As a Work Preparation/Tracking Supervisor, your primary responsibility is to optimize production efficiency and effectiveness for the piping discipline within the project. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will convert scheduling, shop orders, manufacturing information, and standards into comprehensive production work packages suitable for efficient production installation.
**Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.**
**What you’ll do**
- Communicate effectively within the organization and provide insights for improvements and innovations to management.
- Develop, enhance, and maintain tools for monitoring physical progress, Cost Performance Index (CPI), and Schedule Performance Index (SPI) for the piping discipline across the entire JSS 2 project.
- Ensure completeness of materials for every shop order and oversee proper palletization before delivery to supervisors at various shipyard locations (Main yard and W-Building).
- Maintain oversight of missing materials and collaborate with Production Controls Technologists, Warehouse, and Supply Chain departments for resolution.
- Manage all Quality Control documentation related to piping in JSS2.
- Work with Management to identify and eliminate inefficient work practices while promoting continuous process improvement on a ongoing basis.
- Collaborate with area managers and general supervision to establish and maintain pipe team schedule.
- Provide regular internal reports on work processes and status to the Area Manager for Pipe.
**What you’ll bring**
- Minimum of five years of experience in a production environment, preferably in shipbuilding or heavy manufacturing.
- Proficient in trade responsibilities specific to heavy manufacturing processes such as welding, metal fabrication, electrical work, pipefitting, paint/sandblasting, mechanical work, rigging, etc.
- Ability to empower others, lead change, conduct difficult conversations, and coordinate disciplines as needed.
- Thorough understanding of manufacturing processes and techniques relevant to the industry.
- Proficiency in computer software such as MS Office, 3D CAD software (Navisworks/Cadmatic), and ERP systems.
- Strong relationship-building and collaboration skills to work effectively towards common objectives.
- Comprehensive knowledge of all production phases including raw material processing, assembly, and commissioning processes.
- Excellent time management skills with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks with potentially conflicting deadlines.
