- College, CEGEP or other non-university certificate or diploma from a program of 3 months to less than 1 year
- or equivalent experience
- Several months of on-the-job training for shoe repairers.

**Employment requirements**
- Be able to see the problem and fix it,
- Be able to estimate job,
- Be able to sell and up selling,
- Be able to work with machinery,
- Be able to work with knife and scissors sharpening,
- Be able to work with sanding and trimming machine
- Be able to work with cutting key machine and FOB machine,
- Be able to work with five different shoe sewing machines,
- Be able to fix and change zippers, be able to fix purse, bag, suitcase

**Tasks**
- Estimate costs
- Outline and cut patterns
- Repair soles, heels and other parts of footwear
- Trim, dress and finish boots or shoes
- Repair soles, heels and other parts of footwear
- Repair belts, purses, luggage and similar products
- Repair leather handbags and backpack and other similar products
