**Position Summary**
Top Hand Supplies is a raw pet food/pet treat manufacturer and distributor based in Cranbrook, BC. The Maintenance Technician is a highly skilled and versatile individual that is responsible for the overall management of the company’s manufacturing and trucking fleet maintenance. This role requires performing maintenance and repairs of equipment and property, as well as scheduling contractors to perform breakdown or PM repairs. This role requies a technician that is highly versatile and resourceful. Clear and effective communication and effective time management are key aspects of this role as are strong orginizational skills and practical problem solving. This position is highly variable in overall duties and day to day activities. It requires an individual that can think on their feet and prioritize effectively and work independently.
**Duties & Responsibilities**
- Perform diagnostics, repairs, and maintenance on mobile equipment (commercial trucks, trailers, material handling), food manufacturing equipment, refrigeration equipment, and general building maintenance.
- Schedule and track R&M for equipment, handle emergency breakdowns as required. (Emergency breakdowns are situational and very often outside of normal business hours, these are the Maintenance Technicians responsibility to handle directly or delegate)
- Track, schedule, and improve preventative maintenance programs.
- Work with outside vendors and technicians to diagnose and repair equipment.
- Fill in as relief driver or operator if required, move equipment as required.
- Bring forth proposals and suggestions to improve operations.
- Work with management to improve efficiencies and select new equipment.
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with vendors
- Treat all people with respect and show professionalism at all times.
- Be a courageous leader in workplace health & safety.
- Build upon and enforce department / company procedures and policies for all aspects of the operation.
- Participate in and play an active role in regular management meetings, creating relevant reports and presentations on the performance of the department..
- Maintaining and submitting all required documentation and reporting in a timely manner.
- Ensure the department maintains regulatory requirements for all governing bodies at all times as required.

- Must be comfortable working around raw meat products
- Extended periods of sitting or standing.
- Can be a very high pressure environment with demands from multiple parties.
- Some travel will may be required within the scope of this role.
**Qualifications & Skills**
- Verifiable mechanical experience and aptitude required
- Technical or trades training or certification an asset
- Class 1 drivers licence with a clean abstract required
- 2+ years experience as maintenance technician equivilant
- 2+ years of experience profesionel driver
- Strategic thinking and excellent interpersonal communication skills are crucial for this role
- Strong & organized analytical thinking and problem solving abilities are required.
- Extensive knowledge of the manufacturing and trucking industry including but not limited to, equipment selection, equipment operation, R&M, efficient operation.
- Computer competency in general business systems & transportation systems.
- Knowledge and experience with cold chain systems an asset.
- Decise and time bound decision making
- Effectively communicate using concise, easy-to-understand language.

**Salary**: $28.00-$40.00 per hour

**Education**:
- AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)
**Experience**:
- Maintenance: 2 years (required)
- Professional Driver: 2 years (required)
- Truck & Trailer Repair: 2 years (preferred)
- Mobile Equipment Repair: 2 years (preferred)
**Language**:
- English (required)
Licence/Certification:
- Class 1 Licence (required)
Willingness to travel:
- 25% (preferred)
