Enabling this work is the AVP, Strategy and Digital Enterprise, Group Benefits who will report to the VP, Strategy and Sales Enablement, Group Benefits.
The primary accountability of this position is twofold: to address critical business problems and drive business value by making recommendations on a wide range of strategy and innovation opportunities and to oversee the development of sponsor and distributor client journey roadmaps as well as the prioritization of the business’s digital execution resources to deliver on the Gorup Benefits strategic priorities.
**What will you do?**
**Strategy Development, Planning and Project Delivery**
- Accountable for exploring strategic challenges and opportunities across Group Benefits and providing analysis, decision support, and implementation ready strategies and tactics to leadership (e.g. review M&A / partnership opportunities, productivity enhancement opportunities, technology investment opportunities)
- Engage senior level decision makers and SMEs to develop and gain buy-in on recommendations that have cross-cutting business impacts
- Excel at defining project scope, approach ,workplans and formulating a compelling and concise narrative of findings
- Partner as necessary with Canada Strategy, SL Health Strategy, Finance and GB leaders to maintain an up to date 5-year strategic plan and run planning process on behalf of the GB leadership team
- Run senior level strategy sessions to dynamically adapt strategy and reflect on execution progress
- Support development and regular review of business objectives and key results and support alignment across GB and with business partners across the organisation
- Identify and report on key metrics aligned to the strategic plan, developing recommendations to address areas of concern and/or new opportunities
- Maintain awareness of key market and competitive trends and developments and stand up projects to explore or address emerging opportunities or threats
- Develop a point of view on key themes that are likely to impact the group business over a 5-10 year horizon and opportunities to act on these insights
**Digital Enterprise Client Journey Roadmaps and Resource Allocation**
- Support the successful roll out and ongoing evolution of GB’s digital enterprise transformation including supporting broad socialization and change management
- Oversee development of multi-year client experience roadmaps for sponsors and distributors and maintain a close working relationship with CXO to ensure alignment with the GB member journey
- Support client journey owners in developing strategic roadmaps, prioritizing areas of investment, identifying execution implications and overseeing a team / digital squad to translate strategy into execution, ensuring appropriate change management
- Proactively engage with senior stakeholders to understand business and journey needs and provide transparency of roadmap and execution progress
- Oversee intake and prioritization process for all initiatives across SL that require Group Benefit digital execution resources
- Support APM to APM collaboration across SL to ensure business priorities are being met
- Lead digital execution budget management in close collaboration with Finance and GB Platform lead
- Work closely with senior leaders to support alignment on investment priorities and thoughtful consideration of trade-offs
**Communication and relationship management**
- Effectively communicate key insights, ideas, risks and strategies to an executive level audience in a clear, compelling and concise manner
- Proactively stay in touch with internal partners to maintain an understanding of new developments in their areas and their implications for GB
- Tailor both written and verbal communication based on audience and situation to maximize buy-in and establish productive working relationships
**Leadership and people management**
- Provide engaging and collaborative leadership and thought partnership to a team of approximately 5-10 strategy, business architecture, client journey owner and agile portfolio management direct reports
