Journeyperson or Apprentice Machinist

**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Owned by Maibec Inc (headquartered in Québec), Maibec CanExel is a trusted leader in prefinished siding, with a long history of manufacturing exterior siding that is designed to be exceptionally durable while maintaining its authentic beauty. Maibec CanExel has been in business for over 55 years and has a workforce of approximately 200 employees in our East River facility.

Maibec CanExel is located in East River, Nova Scotia (just outside of Hubbards). The location is 1 minute off Exit 7 from Highway #103, making it an easy commute of approximately 30 minutes from Bayers Lake or Bridgewater.

Maibec CanExel is seeking a **Machinist**to join a dynamic team in East River, Nova Scotia.

Machinists address complex repairs of machine parts and manufacture spare parts.

The rate of pay for this position is **$39.03.**

**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Perform general machinist work.
- Troubleshoot problems as necessary.
- Work closely with Millwrights and various other positions to complete plant repairs and maintenance
- Actively participate in EHS Programs
- Maintain housekeeping of the assigned areas
- Participating in improvement projects
- Perform other duties as required

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Able to read Mechanical drawings and blueprints and be able to do simple sketches
- Experience on turning, milling, boring, grinding, broaching and required jigs and fixtures for same
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Time management, prioritization, and multi-tasking skills.
- Good communication, interpersonal skills and writing skills.
- Demonstrated coordination and mechanical ability.
- Ability to read and understand safety rules and regulations.
- Good problem-solving ability
- Intermediate computer skills
- Willing to take training courses for trade upgrading

**EDUCATION**:

- Red Seal Machinist
- Apprentices may be considered based on experience

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to $39.03 per hour
