IAMGOLD is seeking a dynamic and experienced Director, Mining to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction and technical support for our mining operations in Canada and Burkina Faso. Reporting to the Vice President of Technical Services, this leadership role will oversee operational excellence and maximize asset performance while fostering collaborative relationships across the organization. As the Director, Mining, you will be responsible for developing mining strategies, defining technical standards, implementing best practices, and assessing new technologies for adoption in mining operations

The Director, Mining will guide and lead the business in strategic mine planning and mining operational practices, ensuring the effective governance and planning of IAMGOLD’s entire asset portfolio. The role will involve establishing global mining standards, providing technical leadership on growth projects, and evaluating opportunities and risks related to mergers and acquisitions. You will also work closely with technical teams to identify and implement sustainable optimization projects, while providing expert guidance on safety and representing IAMGOLD’s mining operations at all levels. Additionally, the role will focus on developing strategic partnerships that foster innovation and drive continuous improvement in mining methods. A key component of this role is the development of talent pools and succession planning schemes to ensure the organization’s future needs are met.

Qualifications

We are seeking individuals with a passion for innovation, strong communication skills, and a demonstrated ability to lead teams and build effective relationships across functions and operations. Regular travel to operational sites (approximately 25-30% annually) will be required.

Based out of IAMGOLD's corporate office in Toronto, this position offers flexible working arrangements with a hybrid approach, including in office days Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday.
