**Press Operator**

The **Press Operator** will be responsible for the operation and routine maintenance of our 10 colour flexographic printing press including root cause analysis activities, recommending improvements in production methods and participating in continuous improvement initiatives.

**What you will do**:

- Maintain a constant check on all running conditions of the machine and the job being printed, and records it on the job report
- Ensure daily management system board is kept up to date and used to track performance
- Checks the repeat length of a printed web after printing, and watching the web and monitor screen for print defects at least three times (few minutes each) for every printed roll and utilizes AVT system
- Watches for print defects or spills caused by a doctor blade failure and removes the current produced roll and inspects for metal contaminants;
- Maintains proper ink viscosity, proper ink levels and flow of every ink pump being used, set up and maintain auto automatic viscosity control system.
- Checks that all rollers and B.C. dryers are working properly, clean & free of obstructions;
- Indicates all defects in a roll by using flags and writing the reasons down on the “Flag Roll Report”. In case of major defects or defects causing problems in next process, Press Operator must remove the defects before sending to next process
- Ensures press and related areas are clean and in good order for the incoming shift
- Ensures that all information from the docket for an order is followed
- Performs all duties as outlined and any other duties assigned to the supervisor

**What you have to offer**
- Minimum of three (3) years experience as a Press Operator
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant production/manufacturing experience
- Knowledge of Flexographic printing an asset
- Ability to work independently
- Enthusiastic self-starter with a desire to learn new skills
- Ability to multi task with a strong attention to detail
- High energy level, positive attitude and able to work effectively with other departments
- Ability to take and provide clear direction
