**Summary**:
In this role, you will assist refugees and immigrants destined for Calgary or transiting through Calgary with airport reception services, customs, and immigration procedures. You will also be assisting newcomers with connecting flights for onward travel and information and referrals to settlement service providers based on destination in Calgary, Southern Alberta, and other settlement service providers.

**CCIS’s Resettlement and Integration Services (RIS) Division** is looking for a new **Temporary

**This is a temporary position, and the contract end date is March 31, 2025**

**Primary duties and responsibilities include**:

- Assist eligible newcomers arriving through the Calgary airport with immigration and customs, collecting baggage and or assistance with lost luggage, emergency health services and emergency meals when needed
- Provide interpretation and translation services, in newcomers' first language when available or through the assistance of an interpreter
- Facilitate flight connections and or assist with missed/canceled flights
- Provide general information and referrals to IRCC-funded settlement service providers in Calgary, Southern Alberta and other regions as needed
- Assist newcomers in coping with anxiety and or trauma responses
- Assist newcomer groups with referrals to government offices for essential documents; referrals to community, ethnocultural and religious organizations, as well as any other organizations newcomers may need
- Maintain up an up-to-date list of all settlement, community and ethnocultural organizations in multiple languages and have it available for incoming newcomers at the Calgary Airport
- Accurately maintain records and documentation and regularly report service delivery in iCARE
- Participating in professional development training team and community meetings when required
- Any other relevant tasks needed by Manager, Port of Entry and RIS Director

**Qualifications**:

- **Ukrainian, Chinese, Hindi or Tagalog languages are an asset.**:

- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Education, Social Work and related field is preferred
- 1-3 years of experience working with newcomers
- Knowledge of the settlement and integration processes and previous experience working with immigrant and refugee populations are considered a vital asset
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary, culturally diverse team environment
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Computer literacy and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs essential
- Experienced with workshop facilitation and presentation skills, strong planning and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills, ability to communicate in a second language, considered a very strong asset
- Available to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, when needed
- Possess respect for and understanding of refugee and newcomers’ experiences and circumstances
- Able to perform duties independently and with mínimal supervision
- Must be someone who has a positive attitude, is flexible, reliable, proactive, collaborative and takes initiative
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle for work purposes is required
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada
