As a Child and Youth Worker, you will be reporting to the Live-in Treatment (LIT) Services Supervisor, and will be responsible for the activation of quality therapeutic live-in treatment service plans through counselling and support for children, youth, and families to ensure a smooth transition back to community, family, and school environments. **CMHS is seeking qualified Child and Youth Workers to join our Live-in Treatment team in **temporary 6-month contract part-time** positions, with the possibility of a permanent position after the contract.** **What we offer**: - Competitive hourly wage: $27.91 to $31.70; - Included meals; - Five (5) days of paid leave upon hiring; **Your duties and responsibilities will include**: - Developing individualized treatment plans in consultation with families, clients, case managers, and community agencies based on the identified strengths, needs and objectives of the child, youth, and family; - Providing skill based assessment and counselling/behavioural intervention services with children, youth and families with the primary goal being the return to home and community of the child/youth; - Developing and providing intervention programming on an individual and group counselling level and recreational programming activities with children and youth and families congruent with individualized treatment plans; - Assisting in case planning, transitional and discharge planning, documentation and review of client progress; - Maintaining client files to all standards and complete monthly audits as required; - Assuming responsibility for the daily shift organization of the LIT program (once trained as the Shift Lead) to: - outline staff/client assignments; - medication monitoring and administration; - group Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), individual appointments, community programming; - management of any medical or staffing emergencies that may arise; - shift change reporting; - communication with Supervisor and on-call Manager. - Acting as a resource to the LIT Services Manager by preparing background information on topics related to children's mental health when requested, and by providing information on any service needs and/or initiatives related to the delivery of children's mental health services to ensure quality service; - Working co-operatively to support clients’ educational plans either through virtual schooling or in-person community-based school programming. - Advanced Diploma or Degree in Child and Youth Care, or, equivalent education, training, and experience in the field of Child and Youth Work; - A minimum of two years of experience in providing mental health services to children and youth, preferably in a live-in treatment/residential setting; - Demonstrated knowledge and expertise in the field of residential and community based services; - Up-to-date immunization record including COVID-19 (minimum two doses), Tetanus, Booster, and Two Step T.B. Testing; - Demonstrated ability to form meaningful relationships with children, youth and parents/guardians; - Ability to handle emergency, crisis, and hostile behaviour situations in a professional manner; - Demonstrated ability to plan and implement behaviour management strategies and counselling groups/programs; - Ability to work independently and as a team member to achieve program goals; - Strong written and verbal communication skills; - Strong organizational and prioritizing skills; - Ability to complete accurate and timely documentation and paperwork; - Ability to proficiently use computers, programs, and software; - Ability to work independently and as a team member to achieve service goals; - Resourcefulness and flexibility to meet the needs of clients/families within the service; - Valid Ontario driver’s license with full use of an automobile and proof of insurance; - Flexibility to work all rotating shifts and be available for "order-in" work in the event of emergencies.
