Supervisor, Field Construction

Reporting to the Manager, Engineering in the Engineering department the Supervisor, Field Construction is responsible for the following duties:
- Manages day-to-day oversight of the construction and delivery of projects during construction phase, controls the short-term schedule.
- Coordinates all staff working on the construction site/project. Provides updates to stakeholders on the progress of projects.
- Ensures project materials and workmanship meets the project quality standards and design requirements.
The Supervisor, Field Construction is responsible to coordinate all daily facility related construction activities. A key accountability to achieve success in this role is collaboration with Project Managers and Contractors.
**What you’ll do**:
- Manage project field execution to ensure full compliance with EHS policies, schedule, and budget.
- Liaise with personnel, contractors, suppliers to discuss and resolve matters ensuring project timelines are met.
- Interface with operations and engineering to scope and plan project execution ensuring planned activities and project status updates are communicated to key stakeholders.
- Monitor implementation budgets, report on spending, and approve changes in consultation with department manager.
- Ensure management of change (MOC) procedure is followed for all projects.
- Coordinate site activities of contractors. Oversees all contractor personnel to achieve completion of the project on schedule, within budget, with quality workmanship that conforms to the original plans and specifications.Monitor contractors to ensure they maintain schedule and identify any deviations.
Coordinate the inspection of each discipline of work.
Coordinate activities to avoid conflict with other work occurring simultaneously
Requisition any material shortfalls.
Supervise completion of a final punch list.
- Supervise all construction activities.
- Demonstrate leadership and contribute positively to the facility safety culture through active positive participation in EHS safety programs, processes, and initiatives.
- Promote job site safety, encourage safe work practices, and rectify job site hazards
- Complete regular updates of the projects schedule, implementation plan and construction costs.
- Communicate with and adhere to expectations of the Corporate Turnaround Team
- Provides leadership & development opportunities to subordinates. Provides direction and coordination of staff resources to ensure the fulfillment of departmental goals and responsibilities including employee job assignment, training, performance standards and evaluations, communications, and reporting.Subordinate Positions - 5
**Required Skills**:
- Minimum of 10 years’ related industry experience
- A good understanding of the construction trades (pipefitting, welding, inspection, instrumentation, civil)
- Working knowledge and experience in project management, construction contracts, cost control, estimating, planning and scheduling
- Good understanding of QA/QC requirements and procedures
- Working knowledge of the different construction disciplines
- Safe contractor management experience
- Education related to Construction Management would be an asset
- Minimum of a Grade 12 required,
