If you’re a natural leader with a passion for early childhood development and a committed to operational excellence, we’d love to hear from you **Job responsibilities**: - Embraces the Centre Mission: "Helping children with special needs reach their potential". - Supports a team to meet the individual needs of every child by providing an environment where all children feel welcomed, safe and included. - Oversees and evaluates the day-to-day operations of the Childcare and Preschool programs, including scheduling, facilities management, and - resource allocation. - Manages Childcare and Preschool program staff, including recruitment, evaluations, and payroll submission, as well as ensuring that staff - maintain up to date, best practice knowledge and skills while fostering a positive and collaborative workplace. - Oversees and approves all departmental expenditures within an approved budget. - Ensures the development of appropriate policies and procedures. - Supervises work experience for students during practicums. - Ensures staff and facility compliance with policies and procedures regulated by Child Care Licensing. - Establishes and enforces health and safety protocols to maintain a clean and secure environment. - Responds to emergencies, accidents, or incidents; documenting and communicating appropriately. - Maintains an ongoing knowledge of the children and their families served by being actively involved in the Childcare and Preschool programs. - Is an active member of various community committees such as Heart of the Matter, Child and Youth Committees and related Early Childhood - Development committees at the direction of the VP, SCD & Childcare. - Coordinate the delivery of Supported Child Development services to the Childcare and Preschool programs in concert with the Centre's VP of - SCD & Childcare - Participate in The Centre's Department Leader’s Team - Perform other related duties as assigned by the VP, SCD & Childcare. - Available to work occasional evenings and Saturdays **Qualifications, Skills & Ability Requirements**: - A degree in a field related to child development, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. - A minimum of five years related supervisory experience in an Inclusive Early Learning and Care environment. - Valid Early Childhood Educator License to practice issued by BC Child Care Facilities Licensing Board. - Valid Special Needs Certificate. - Valid Infancy, Toddler Certificate. - Valid First Aid Certificate. - Valid BC Driver's License. - Demonstrated commitment to Family Centered Care and a customer service approach. - Demonstrated knowledge of community childcare resources and other community support services. - Demonstrated knowledge of multi-cultural issues, Aboriginal families, family systems and culturally appropriate practices. - Ability to take on a leadership role in working independently and as part of a team. - Ability to develop and maintain effective team building and relationship skills. - Ability to problem-solve, develop strategies and course of action to follow. - Ability to organize, prioritize and communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. - Ability to be unbiased, open minded and flexible when working within a variety of community settings. - Ability to operate related equipment and recognize when maintenance of related equipment is required. - Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. **Who we are and what we offer**: Since 1953, The Centre for Child Development of the Lower Mainland has worked to overcome societal barriers for those with disabilities and empower vulnerable children and families throughout the South Fraser Region.
