**Purpose**:
Reporting to the Associate Director, Advancement, the purpose of the position is twofold. The first is to provide a wide range of activities to engage and involve alumni of the Faculty of Environmental & Urban Change (EUC) in support of building strong alumni networks and facilitating the maintenance of positive relationships between alumni of EUC, and York University. The Alumni and Events Officer is responsible for alumni outreach programs that have an impact locally, nationally, and internationally, to engage alumni and strengthen their connection to the Faculty and to York University, and to help advance the directions outlined in the Faculty's advancement plan. The position is responsible for developing and maintaining positive relations with key alumni and stakeholders who are essential to the reputation, philanthropic investment, student recruitment, field experience, internship and graduate employment placement rates. Secondly, this position also takes lead role in the effective coordination and administration of Faculty events. The Alumni and Events Officer plans, coordinates and executes Faculty-based events and where appropriate, coordinates and assists with other joint ventures and pan-University events.

**Education**:
A University degree in environmental studies, business, marketing and/or communications is required, or an equivalent combination of education and experience such as a college diploma with 2-3 years of experience in addition to the minimum number of years of related work experience required. A degree from York University would be considered an asset. A degree in Environmental Studies would also be considered an asset.

**Experience**:
2-3 years of experience in event and volunteer organization is required. Experience in an advancement role, including fundraising and alumni relations would be an asset. experience in an educational and non-profit setting and/or experience as a York University student leader would also be considered an asset.

Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team. and ability to work well with both internal and external stakeholders i.e. Faculty and Central Advancement team, to build, broaden and achieve the Faculty and University's integrated goals.
Ability to multi-task and a proven ability to meet goals are core requirements to ensure a professional execution of Alumni Relations tasks.
Demonstrated experience in public speaking and making presentations.

**Must be knowledgeable about**:
General university advancement and alumni association processes and procedures.
Revenue Canada regulations regarding Charitable Giving.

**Computer knowledge required**:
Microsoft Office - including word processing (Word), spreadsheets (Excel) and presentations (Power Point). Microsoft Project at an intermediate level would be an asset.
Demonstrated knowledge of prospect management database (e.g., ACE, ARR, Raiser's Edge) and eReports systems.
Internet Searching/Browsing.
