Bakery Production Team Lead

Summerhill Market is a boutique grocery store chain in Toronto that specializes in scratch-made prepared foods and on-trend ingredients. Our stores go above and beyond a typical grocery store by offering an extensive rotating selection of ready to eat gourmet meals, freshly baked goodies, and curated hard to find groceries.

Summerhill Market is looking for a **Bakery Production Associate** to join the team at our Bakery Production Kitchen The Bakery staff work closely with all members of the production team, following specific recipes to bake pastry products which are made available for sale in Summerhill Markets retail stores. Another primary task is the decorating of cakes, cookies, pies, and other pastry items. As well as developing new and creative designs for seasonal offerings and new products.

We are looking to hire people with a variety of skill sets and Bakery experience across both our morning & evening shifts, including:

**Mixers**

**Bakers/Production Helpers**

**Cookie Makers**

**Ice Cream Makers**

**Bread Makers**

**Dishwashers**

Shifts include:

- Production Days - 6:30am/7am start to 3pm
- Packaging - 2 week rotation between 9am to 5:30pm and 11am to 8:30pm shifts
- Team Lead - 11:00am to 7:30pm
- Evening (Bread, Dishwasher, Ice Cream Maker) - 2pm to 10:30pm
- Schedule is Sun to Thurs or Tues to Sat
- Must be able to work full-time, holidays, over-time, weekends

**Duties & Responsibilities**:
As a member of the Summerhill Market team, you will conduct yourself with integrity and are committed to providing the best possible service and/or products to Summerhill’s customers, staff and clients. The responsibilities of the Bakery Production Associate include but are not limited to the following:

- Scooping, measuring, and scaling batters, doughs, and mixes into specified portions prior to baking
- Following recipes provided by the Pastry Chef as well as following specific production schedule
- Weighing and scaling pastry ingredients for specific recipes
- Proper use of equipment such as mixer, sheeter, pie press, oven and stove top
- Unpacking and storing supplies in refrigerators, cupboards, and all other areas
- Cake decorating, piping, and working with design as needed
- Proper use of equipment such as mixer, sheeter, pie press, oven and stove top
- Maintain a clean work environment at all times: wash and sanitize worktables, cupboards, and appliances and sweep & mop floors as required
- Unpack and store supplies in refrigerators, cupboards, and all other areas
- Maintaining a clean working environment at all times
- Understanding of workplace safety as well as food safety and handling; ensure safety hazards are removed and/or reported
- Performing other duties as may be assigned.

**Skillset requirements**:

- Ability to work well with others and be part of a team
- Proper rotation of ingredients and inventory
- Ability to use scales to weigh foods and proper operation of equipment
- Assist as required with packaging and pricing
- Expert knowledge of products, preparation, and safe handling
- Ability to stand, reach, lift, bend, kneel, stoop, climb, push, and pull items weighing up to 50 pounds or less
- Ability to follow written and oral instructions
- Ability to work varying shifts, weekends, and holidays.
