The Hiab Crane Operator is responsible for operating a truck-mounted crane (Hiab) to transport, load, and unload heavy materials safely and efficiently. This position requires compliance with safety regulations, proper route planning, and vehicle and crane upkeep. The operator will collaborate with clients, logistics teams, and colleagues to ensure deliveries are made on time and accurately. **Hourly: $36-40/hour** **Key Responsibilities**: - Safely operate a Hiab crane to load, transport, and unload goods at various locations. - Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle and crane, recording findings and reporting any concerns. - Deliver goods within the Lower Mainland and ensure timely and secure deliveries. - Plan and optimize delivery routes to improve efficiency and minimize travel time. - Secure loads according to safety standards and ensure compliance with weight, height, and balance regulations. - Maintain a clean and organized vehicle and crane, conducting routine checks and performing basic maintenance as needed. - Communicate effectively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders to coordinate deliveries and resolve any issues. - Adhere to company policies, traffic laws, and safety protocols. - Complete all necessary delivery documentation accurately and promptly. **Qualifications and Skills**: - Required:_ - Valid Class 1 or 3 Driver’s License with a clean driving record. - HIAB "B" certification and previous crane operating experience. - A minimum of 3 years’ experience as a commercial driver. - Strong physical stamina and capability to perform manual tasks. - Preferred:_ - Knowledge of crane technology and modern safety features. - Willingness to work flexible hours to accommodate different delivery schedules. - Experience with deliveries to construction sites or remote areas. **Technical Skills**: - Proficient in using truck-mounted cranes, especially Hiab systems. - Strong familiarity with local routes in the Lower Mainland and Vancouver Island. - Ability to perform basic troubleshooting and maintenance on vehicles and cranes. - Expertise in the safe and secure loading/unloading of heavy materials. **Interpersonal Skills**: - Strong communication skills with the ability to work well within a team. - Excellent problem-solving abilities, particularly in a safety-conscious manner. - Highly reliable, organized, and detail-oriented. - Professional, customer-focused, and approachable demeanor at all times. **Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent Pay: $36.00-$41.00 per hour **Benefits**: - Extended health care Schedule: - Monday to Friday Work Location: In person
