Learn more. **Working for the Department** The Faculty of Agricultural, Life and Environmental Sciences (ALES) is looking for a dynamic, team-oriented animal health professional to support animal care and research activity in the Poultry Research Facility. ALES is made up of 500+ faculty and staff, 1700+ undergraduates and 600+ graduate students. ALES is focused on teaching, research & community service in its departments and schools: Agricultural, Food and Nutritional Science; Renewable Resources; Human Ecology; Resource Economics and Environmental Sociology. We have strong academic undergraduate and graduate programs, a large research infrastructure that includes 25,000 acres of farm & ranch land in key ecologies across Alberta, and high-impact research in collaboration with our partners. **Position** **Duties** - Daily animal care and maintenance of poultry flocks; including feeding, picking eggs, and health monitoring. - Perform detailed animal procedures as directed by Standard Operating Procedures. - Manure removal, facility cleaning, disinfection, and equipment monitoring and maintenance. - Record keeping. - Assistance to students and other staff as needed. - Operation of various machinery and tools, including skid steer and tractor. **Minimum Qualifications** - High School Diploma. - Computer training and/or experience (Microsoft Word/Excel, Google Suite (Sheets, Docs)). - Animal care experience with Poultry. **Preferred Qualifications** - Animal training or education focused on poultry production and handling - experience in poultry husbandry. - Training/knowledge of the 'On-Farm Food Safety Programs" related to poultry production, including record keeping and biosecurity. - FAPWC (Faculty Animal Policy and Welfare Committee) and UAPWC (University Animal Policy and Welfare Committee) Part 1 and 2 courses. - First Aid and WHMIS.
