The Planner I, Yard Services supports planning and coordination of yard services required for new ship construction at VSY. Reporting to the Manager, Production Support, this entry-level role assists in the preparation, scheduling, and tracking of temporary facilities and services such as scaffolding, rigging, ventilation, weather protection, and electrical support. The Planner I works under the guidance of senior planners and production leaders to ensure yard services are delivered on time, and in alignment with project needs.

**Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.**

**What you’ll do**
- Assist in developing work orders for yard service activities including setup and takedown for scaffolding, rigging, ventilation, and temporary electrical services.
- Support planning and scheduling of yard services to align with project-wide construction timelines.
- Help maintain yard services plans and documentation using CAD tools and planning systems as directed.
- Coordinate with Area Managers, trade supervisors, and yard services teams to confirm readiness of services ahead of production milestones.
- Track service-related progress and status in planning tools; report issues or delays to senior planners.
- Assist in resolving scheduling conflicts or service readiness issues with directions from the supervisor.
- Help track maintenance and use of key equipment such as fans, mobile electrical and welding stations.
- Support the creation of ventilation plans and work packages in collaboration with HVAC Engineering.
- Liaise with industrial subcontractors and internal stakeholders to communicate service timelines and scope, with support.
- Follow established safety and quality protocols for all yard service activities.
- Perform other tasks as assigned to support efficient execution of shipyard operations.

**What you’ll bring**
- Post-secondary education in engineering technology, construction, operations, or marine programs is preferred
- Up to 3 years’ planning/scheduling experience in a large manufacturing/heavy industry environment, preferably in the shipbuilding industry
- Familiarity with yard services such as ventilation, scaffolding, rigging, and electrical systems.
- Knowledge of safety and operational standards related to shipyard services is an asset.
- Basic understanding of planning and scheduling systems (e.g., MRP, Microsoft Project).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings with training or guidance.
- Exposure to or willingness to learn CAD/CAM tools for layout and service planning.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Effective written and verbal communication abilities.
- Attention to detail and a methodical, analytical approach to tasks.
- Collaborative mindset with ability to learn and contribute in a team environment.
- Ability to interpret information and identify potential scheduling or service gaps under supervision.
