ROLE PURPOSE
Work 1-1 with individual(s) and assist them to achieve their goals as well as ensuring that the client’s emotional/behavior, social, physical, and medical needs are meet.
Our Community Inclusion programs help adult clients access services and build community connections, while supporting them to develop life skills. We work one-on-one with service users to encourage them to identify, work toward, and achieve their goals so they can build greater independence and more active community engagement.
HOURS
At this time, we are looking for Casual Residence Support Workers:
- Casual employees must be available for at least 21 shifts per month in which 7 are overnight shifts.
- These positions require the ability to work flexible hours during the daytime shifts (08:00-16:00), evenings shifts (16:00-00:00), and overnight shifts (00:00-08:00).
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
As a Residence Support Worker, your responsibilities will include:
- Provides input to the Program Manager and/or other staff regarding the development of appropriate care plans to achieve residents’ objectives
- Acts as a positive role model for residents, providing emotional support, behavior management, and supporting individuals in achieving goals
- Identifies social, economic, recreational, employment, and educational services in the community that will meet the needs of each client
- Collaborates with a multidisciplinary team and consults with team psychologist and psychiatrists to develop, implement, maintain, and adjust individualized treatment plans
- Working with other residence staff, monitors and ensures effective operation of the facility including quality control concerning cleaning equipment, indoor and outdoor maintenance, inventory, and food services
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENRS
- BC Valid class 5 driver’s license
- Experience working with high-risk individuals with multiple diagnoses such as autism spectrum disorders, FASD, ADHD, trauma and complex behavioral challenges
- Demonstrated ability to respond efficiently in crisis and escalated situations
- Skilled in emotional regulation while respecting client autonomy
- Ability to follow safety and behavioral support plans to
- Experience providing trauma-informed support to clients in challenging environments
- Ability to work in a team environment where communication and consistency is key
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
- Current Emergency First Aid Certificate (please refer to the Certificates accepted in B.C. - WorkSafe)
- Successful completion of a Vulnerable Persons Criminal
COMPENSATION
As Connective is a unionized environment, the starting wage is $25.95 per hour.
