Data Center Technician

On behalf of our client in Vancouver, Progression3 is in search of a Data Center Technician for a 12-month renewable contract.

Support to provide system HW/SW upgrades, system repair, KVM and PDU install and debug in the lab environment. Will provide EOL support for servers, fully demote them from system, remove any 3rd party and client based software as needed. Will be changing domains on multiple servers and updating Active Directory, DNS as needed. Scripting experience a plus, understanding of editing customer provided scripts and using them in Windows/Linux environment as needed.

HW/SW upkeep to include assistance with Client compliance and procedural enhancements, system assembly, and system image creation for non-standard desktop, laptop and KVM hardware located in the datacenter/lab used in the Lab virtual environment. OS includes Window and Linux/Unix. Support will be provided as dedicated models with 40hrs a week during standard business hours. Will report to Project Manager.

**Responsibilities will include**:

- Physical Lab Support
- Install updates to firmware or system drivers.
- Maintaining servers and KVMs to ensure connectivity
- Setting up multiple clients that connect to one server in temporary lab projects
- Working knowledge of Linux is a plus.
- Complete required training (Hazardous materials, data center safety, etc.)
- General understanding of Windows Server OS's (i.e. 2008R2, 2012R2, 2016)
- Must have 1+ years of experience with Active Directory
- Must have 1+ years of experience with DNS and understand basic concept
- Must feel comfortable with moving objects in AD and changing server domains
- Must feel comfortable with PowerShell and running queries plus editing scripts provided by Customer as needed.
- General understanding of Client Blade Servers and enclosure configurations
- General understanding configuring Client VC Flex Cards (Virtual Connect)
- Virtualization Support
- Remote Installation and/or Upgrading of Hypervisor software on Client Blade series hardware
- Integrating Hypervisor Servers into existing Virtualization Environments
- General VM access, configuration and troubleshooting
- Moving and provisioning of VM's or Image templates within the Virtualization Environments
- Generic Virtualization troubleshooting of hypervisor and web interfaces
- Generic Virtualization Storage troubleshooting
- General understanding of Virtualization concepts and implementation (i.e. setup, install, configure, troubleshoot)
- General understanding of Network Management (i.e. interconnectivity, integration, Add/Edit/Remove requests, firewall settings)
- General understanding of Remote Connectivity & Management (i, DNS requests, Edit/Change/Remove requests)
- Working knowledge of Windows OS's
- Basic knowledge of installing and networking Linux (basic Linux OS troubleshooting required)
- Must feel comfortable with editing scripts that will be used to remove multiple 3rd party software.
- Must have knowledge of Software licensing removal/replacement support
- Must have Experience with Systems cleanup
- Must feel comfortable on Removing 3rd party tools (will train)
- Must be comfortable on Removing client credentials
- Must be comfortable Removing/replacing client certificates
- Must be able to Perform Drive sanitization (instructions will be provided)
- Must have 1+ years with Hardware support experience - such as hardware landing, move, End-of-life activities, upgrades, replacements, etc.
- Must have 1+ years with Software support experience - such as preparing customized OS images (Windows, and Linux), configuring and installing SW/OS, etc.

**Salary**: $55,000.00-$62,000.00 per year
