Prince Albert, Canada Private casual in house, Home Care Aid Full time

I am looking for a home care aide to assist my father during his visits to my home. He has Stage 3 dementia and Type 2 diabetes. We plan for him to visit 2-3 days per week for overnight stays, and he will need proper monitoring and support while he is here. During these visits, the home care aide will come to my home to provide care.

**2-3 visits per day (or more if concerns arise)**

Examples:

- **Morning visit**: medication reminders, blood-sugar check, breakfast/meal prep, hygiene, and safety assessment
- **Midday visit (optional)**: hydration check, meal support, monitoring
- **Evening visit**: second blood-sugar check, medications, dinner support, foot/wound check, and settling in for the night

Some clients need one longer visit, while others benefit from two shorter visits. If there are unstable blood sugars, medication issues, or fall risks, additional check-ins may be needed.

**Length of Each Visit**

Typical visit length**:

- 30-60 minutes per visit**

This usually includes:

- Blood-glucose monitoring
- Medication reminders
- Meal preparation or assistance
- Observing for confusion or behavioral changes
- Safety checks (fall risk, wandering, hydration)
- Foot and skin checks (important for diabetes)
- Documenting observations

If personal care (bathing, dressing, incontinence care) is required, visits may last **60-90 minutes**.

**When Longer or Extra Visits May Be Needed**

More time or additional visits may be required if your father:

- Has blood-sugar fluctuations
- Is forgetting medications
- Needs full personal care
- Is wandering, agitated, or showing behavioral changes
- Has mobility issues or a high fall risk

**Summary**

- Longer visits are recommended if personal care is needed or health concerns arise

**Job Type**: Casual

Pay: $18.00-$22.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 20 per week
