**Food Service Manager**

**About the Opportunity**

Reporting to the Executive Director, you will be responsible for delivering an exceptional dining experience to the residents of Aberdeen Gardens by managing all aspects of the kitchen and dining room. **You will provide an efficient, effective and reliable food service**, 3 meals a day for over 110 residents.

Specially, your duties include (but are not limited to):

- Providing an excellent culinary and dining experience for our residents
- Providing a nutritionally balanced meal service
- Planning of weekly menus for food preparation
- Consulting with our older adults regarding dietary needs
- Providing leadership, supervision and training for cooks, dishwashers and dining room servers while adhering to food and safety standards at all times
- Ordering and stock control in line with budget compliance
- Adhering to Retirement Homes Act standards.

To be successful in this position, you have at least 3 years of progressive experience as an Executive or Head Chef within a high volume environment. Ideally, you have experience within a retirement community; however people from a high end, busy restaurant or resort environment are also encouraged to apply. Your experience with human resource management, particularly leading unionized staff, is something we value.

You are self-motivated and organized with the ability to lead by example, to ensure the efficient running of the kitchen. Your proactive and positive attitude ensures you are a great leader who engages with your team and listens to their concerns in order to deescalate any issues.

Your commitment to cleanliness, quality and profitability, including your ability to manage budgets and menu plans effectively, is the key to your success in this role.

As the Food Service Manager, you are able to delegate tasks clearly and maintain good relationships with staff and suppliers in a high-pressure kitchen environment. It is a requirement of this position that you work one weekend a month.
