**Summary**
The Transportation Manager will oversee all aspects of daily transportation operations across Canadian sites. This includes managing fleet and driver performance, coordinating with distribution center managers, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards, and handling operational issues proactively. This role is essential to maintaining service excellence, optimizing resource allocation, and ensuring on-time delivery performance.
**Roles and Responsibilities (Subject to change)**
**Operational Leadership**
- Manage and support routing and DAX data backup.
- Oversee routing strategies and balance unit mix at each site (peak/non-peak).
- Coordinate the execution of a modified holiday schedule plan.
- Ensure all leads are routing properly and sending notifications.
- Oversee and resolve daily operational issues including staffing, coverage, and customer concerns.
- Maintain communication with DC managers weekly and site managers regularly.
**Driver & Fleet Management**
- Monitor and manage fleet maintenance daily.
- Conduct driver audits quarterly and oversee retraining and discipline through Samba Safety reviews.
- Manage GPS infractions and Geotab system oversight.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols for safe driving and dock operations.
- Manage vehicle service tracking and return logs monthly.
- Coordinate the approval and tracking of driver PTO.
**Labor & Staffing**
- Handle recruiting efforts and manage temp agency relationships.
- Oversee onboarding processes and ensure execution when required.
- Address and document call outs, absences, and coverage needs across routes.
- Serve as a backup driver in London if needed.
**Administration & Compliance**
- Approve driver timecards and monitor payroll exceptions each pay period.
- Manage policy rollouts and safety communications (weekly).
- Ensure all leads are completing daily KPIs and enter data into tracking tools as a backup.
- Conduct audits including those related to Enterprise and Penske.
- Participate in managing and supporting Transportation LMS via Samba Safety.
- Ensure compliance with Enterprise, Penske, and internal audit standards.
**Tools & System Oversight**
- Administer and monitor use of Optimo and Google Forms for KPI submissions.
- Spot check manifests and data entry for accuracy.
- Manage PO processes for damage and repair reporting daily.
**Inventory & Supplies**
- Monitor operational supplies at each site and place replenishment orders as needed.
**Minimum Qualifications**
- 3+ years of proven experience in transportation management.
- Experience managing fleet operations, safety programs, and personnel.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian transportation regulations, safety standards, and industry best practices.
- Effective leadership and communication skills.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on environment.
- Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to handle complex logistics challenges.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on process optimization.
