AdaptAbilities is proud to provide a meaningful program for children and youth with disabilities. We are currently seeking individuals that are interested in working at a part time basis as a **Community Specialist**.

**Location**: South West Edmonton

**Hours**: Tuesday and Thursdays from 4:00pm to 8:00pm

**Responsibilities**:

- Provide direct care and purposeful support in an engaging, fun and safe environment
- Foster genuine relationships promoting dignity, personal interests and identities
- Empower people to create meaningful days and achieve their goals
- Communicate effectively with their team members, including individuals, families, and co-workers
- Build a vision of inclusion, one person at a time
- Model socially appropriate behaviors and assist/encourage participants to make and maintain appropriate community connections
- Support participants in all aspects of personal hygiene and personal care as required.
- Maintain timely, accurate and professional documents in accordance with AdaptAbilities policies and procedures
- Understand and comply with all emergency processes and risk management
- Perform other job-related activities as required

**Job Requirements**:

- Minimum education requirement of a High School Diploma and a minimum of 2-3 years of related experience; or graduation from an appropriate post-secondary program with a Certificate or Diploma. Programs include Disability Studies, Human Services, Social Work, Kinesiology, Physical Therapy, Psychology, Sociology, or Education.
- **Must be fluent in American Sign Language (ASL)**:

- Hands-on experience working with individuals with complex behaviors which limit their inclusion in community and/or programs
- Alignment with AdaptAbilities’ core purpose and core values
- Clear Vulnerable Sector Police Information Check and Intervention Record Check are required
- Intermediate First Aid Certification CPR Level C and AED is required upon hire
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Medication Administration, Abuse Prevention and Response Protocol are an asset

**Job Type**: Part-time

Pay: $21.56-$22.82 per hour

Expected hours: 8 per week

Schedule:

- 4 hour shift
- Evening shift
