**Cooking Class Instructor**

Royal Vale Elementary Home & School Association (RVEHSA) is dedicated to enhancing the education and general well-being of the students at Royal Vale Elementary School.

RVEHSA independently plans and oversees the before and after school programs and child care for Royal Vale Elementary students.

**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to)**
- In advance, develop and submit to the Program Director weekly one-hour cooking and baking lesson plans, featuring hands-on activities tailored for elementary students.
- Lead and teach each class, focusing on essential cooking skills, kitchen safety, and basic nutrition in a fun, engaging manner.
- Provide weekly perishable ingredient lists for purchasing aligned with the class budget and lesson plans.
- Foster a positive, inclusive environment that encourages creativity and teamwork.
- Promote healthy eating habits and culinary curiosity.
- Maintain a clean, organized cooking area and adhere to all safety protocols.
- Manage administrative tasks such as taking attendance and ensuring students are safely escorted to their parents after class.
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to both students and parents as necessary.

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- Experience in teaching or working with children, preferably in an educational or school or setting.
- Strong culinary skills and knowledge of nutrition.
- Ability to create a fun and engaging learning environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain).
- Background check required.

**ASSETS**:

- Culinary degree or relevant certification.
- Previous experience developing educational content or lesson plans.

This is a part-time freelance contract for teaching a cooking class within an after school program for students in grades 1-6. Mondays
- Fridays 2:30-4:00pm (teaching time one hour, remaining time escorting children to parents and cleaning up area).

Payment of services will be $67.50 per class and includes the payment for the time required to fulfill the key duties and responsibilities outlined above.

Classes runs November 25- March 28 2025 on the days the school is open. Possible extension of contract for final term April 3- Mid/End June 2025.
