**The opportunity**:
The University of Manitoba is seeking a Financial Analyst to join Capital Accounting Services. This role oversees the administration and integrity of the University’s Capital Equipment inventory database and the Banner Fixed Asset Module, ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.

Reporting to the Manager, Capital Accounting Services, the Financial Analyst ensures proper recording, acquisition, and disposal of assets while supporting compliance with the University’s Capital Equipment Control Policy. This position also assists the Senior Financial Analyst with accounting and reporting functions.

**The qualifications and experience we’re looking for**:

- Completion of a formal training program in accounting or business administration is required.
- Enrollment in the CPA PREP program preferred.
- Minimum of 4 years of directly-related experience in accounting, where a good knowledge of basic accounting practices has been acquired, is essential.
- Experience working in a complex computerized accounting environment is required.
- Experience working in a customer-focused environment is required.
- Experience in the maintenance of complex databases and database reporting is required.
- Previous experience accounting for capital assets is preferred.
- An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Must be proficient in the use of a personal computer and possess extensive knowledge of and proficiency in all Microsoft Office Applications, especially Excel and Access.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills required.
- Ability to process large numbers of documents with speed, accuracy and attention to detail in order to meet strict deadlines is required.
- Must possess initiative as well as the ability to prioritise and manage the workload efficiently and effectively.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, are required.
- The ability to communicate effectively with all levels of staff and public in a diplomatic, firm but tactful manner is essential.
- A good working knowledge of The University of Manitoba and its policies and procedures would be an asset.
- Experience in the use of the Aurora Finance System is preferred.
- Satisfactory work record, including attendance and punctuality, is required.
