Join our team of Manitoba's best as we continue to build a company that supports innovation, commitment and customer service. **_ Responsibilities:_** - Install, construct, commission, acceptance test, modify and maintain telecommunications equipment associated with the following general systems: SONET, Microwave, Multiplex, Teleprotection, VHF/UHF Radio Systems, Tait Node and Zetron Console Systems, Telephony Systems, Powerline Carrier, Telemetry, Alarms Systems, Datacom Networks, Metallic and Optical Cable Systems. - Receive and surrender equipment clearances through the Telecom Network Operation Centre and the System Control Centre. - Provide fast, effective restoration of service during system outages. - Provide technical training and mentorship on the job and through the Telecontrol Training Program to other technicians and - trainees.- Required to maintain accurate equipment files, drawings, patch sheets, maintenance results and other database records in - accordance with department and NERC standards.- Required to work effectively with individuals, groups, departments, and commercial customers, both within and outside of - Manitoba Hydro.- Required to travel throughout the maintenance area and live away from home for varying periods of time. - Continually update technical knowledge and experience in keeping with constantly changing technology. - Provide standby duties as required. - "Principal Duties are intended to be an accurate reflection of the main duties essential for this position. They are not designed to be_ - an exhaustive list of all duties, tasks and responsibilities."_ **_ Qualifications:_** - A two-year diploma in Electronic, Computer, or Telecommunications Engineering technology from an institute of recognized standing and completion of Manitoba Hydro's training program leading to the designation of Telecontrol Journeyperson. Required to have spent two years at the Telecontrol Journeyperson pay level prior to progressing to the Telecontrol Technician I classification. - Must obtain and maintain a current Personnel Risk Assessment and a "Clear" security rating in accordance with Manitoba Hydro policy. - Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) Training is required and must be completed prior to transfer date and renewed annually. - Must have completed Standards of Conduct training or be willing to complete within two weeks of start date. - Proficient in the latest technological developments in the telecommunication field and possess a detailed knowledge of the MANITOBA HYDRO IS COMMITTED TO DIVERSITY AND EMPLOYMENT EQUITY Reference Code: CO56700989-01- Demonstrated understanding and conformance to corporate safety standards, procedures, and practices. - Detailed knowledge of telecommunication maintenance and operating procedures. - Demonstrated ability to work efficiently, both independently and in a team environment at all times including during system - emergencies.- Capable of interpreting drawings, schematics, test results, and of writing concise reports. - Possess an approved set of personal hand tools appropriate for the position. - Physically capable of performing all the duties of the position. - Must reside within the Winnipeg headquarter zone or within 30 minute travelling distance from their normal assembly point. - Possess a valid Province of Manitoba Driver's Licence. **_ Salary Range_** Starting salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. The range for the classification is $38.25 - $45.59 Hourly / $73,296.34 - $87,363.12 Annually.
