Champlain College Lennoxville is seeking the services of a Social Worker for a full-time, 3 month replacement position, with the possibility of renewal.

FUNCTIONS
Under the supervision of and working closely with the Dean of Student Services, the Social Worker will provide a range of supports and guidance to students who are experiencing or likely to experience emotional, social, academic and family problems.
The incumbent organizes and delivers projects addressing accessibility to education, working in partnership with all members of the Student Services Team.

Personal Counselling (40%)
1. Meet individually with students facing personal challenges such as relationship difficulties, behavioral issues, anxiety, addictions, sexual violence, and mental health concerns. Refer to external services as necessary. Provide assessment and counseling to a diverse student population in terms of age, culture, race, gender, sexual identity, educational background, and ability.
2. Promote student health and well-being by developing and implementing a comprehensive wellness strategy at the College. Provide one-on-one and group wellness counseling and coaching, aiming to help students minimize personal stress while achieving academic goals.
3. Collaborate with the wellness group, which includes Student Life Counselors, social work technicians, Guidance Counsellor and Adapted Services Counsellor to develop and implement a comprehensive College wellness strategy. This includes activities focused on raising awareness, reducing mental health stigma, nutrition, exercise, stress reduction, and self-care strategies.
4. Consult with students to assess their needs and issues. Provide administrative leadership to student-led advisory committees on health and wellness.
5. Develop and facilitate workshops, seminars, and outreach activities to promote effective self-care.
6. Create presentations for staff, faculty, and the broader professional community on wellness and related topics impacting students.
7. Develop communication strategies (including web content) to address mental health stigma and promote wellness skills.
8. Liaise with campus and community wellness-focused services.

Sexual Violence Support and Coordination (40%)
1. Support students in coordinating sexual violence prevention and response efforts. Design an action plan to foster productive, trusting relationships that contribute to the prevention and support of sexual violence. Ensure compliance with institutional, provincial, and federal guidelines, offering consultation on complex issues.
2. Develop and coordinate the College's prevention and response strategies under the Policy Against Sexual Violence, in cooperation with the Standing Committee on Sexual Violence.
3. Serve as an intake point for disclosures and complaints under the procedures for responding to incidents of sexual violence. Initiate accommodation, compile records, and provide regular reports to the Director of the College.
4. Provide guidance and support to colleagues and students for projects, campaigns, or initiatives related to sexual violence.
5. Collaborate with the Dean of Student Services to develop and manage prevention-specific response strategies under the Policy Against Sexual Violence.

Additional Responsibilities (15%)
1. Participate in weekly meetings with the Psychosocial support team to prepare and implement intervention plans for students facing difficulties.
2. Document confidential student files, maintaining up-to-date records of observations and interventions.
3. In collaboration with the Dean of Student Services, curate online materials, awareness campaigns, and campus activities to:

- Raise awareness among students about suicide, stress, anxiety, mental health, and balanced student life.
- Provide strategies and tools for self-care and resiliency development.
- Inform students of available College and community resources to support their success.
- Collaborate with the Champlain Student Association and Recreational Activities Technician to organize awareness and prevention activities.
4. Establish trusting relationships with students through active engagement in student life activities and residences.
5. Liaise with the Champlain/Bishop’s University health clinic and external community resources (CLSC, CALACS, JEVI, Mental Health Estrie, etc.) to ensure smooth referrals for students.
6. Collaborate with the psychosocial support team and faculty involved in the Sentinels project to coordinate related initiatives.

Other Related Tasks (5%)
1. Carry out other related tasks assigned by the Dean of Student Services.
