A valid certificate for Health Care Aide or preferably Personal Support Worker from a recognized school of training
- Must be able to communicate in English including written documentation. Has an acceptable standard of behaviour and appearance.
- Strong problem-solving skills in performing individualized residents’ plans of care
- Proven ability to accurately record care given to residents
- Strong team player and a positive team spirit within the department and centre
- Effective interpersonal relations with team members, residents, families and other departments
- Good attendance records - a critical element for primary care goal
- Good knowledge of the Resident’s Bill of Rights and endeavours to respect and promote it
- Interest and track record of continuing education through attendance at in-services and outside educational opportunities
- Flexibility to adapt to the changing needs of the residents and the center
- Proven ability to care for residents’ with dementia according to the gentle care philosophy
