Urban Life Solutions is currently looking for a Shop Foreman to work with our Fleet & Facility team in Nisku. This position will be responsible for day-to-day work dispatch for up to 6 shop staff (Heavy Duty, Automotive, Apprentices and Fleet attendants ) and be in direct communication with operational team leaders about deliverables. While also inspecting, diagnosing, and providing repairs to landscape maintenance, construction and snow & ice management equipment and vehicles, along side towing and recovery units.

Major Responsibilities

Demonstrating safety leadership and safe work practices at all times

Working in accordance with ULS policies and procedures

Providing exceptional customer service & client experiences

Work with the Fleet coordinator to triage repair entry’s

Assist the Fleet coordinator with supplying accurate information to operations

Communication with journeymen, apprentices and Fleet attendants about work orders and timelines

Production time management for all groups within the shop

Over see repairs and advise on repair procedures

Work with Supply Chain/Procurement Team Member to ensure consumables are in stock

Recruit and hire new shop employees

Provides employee training.

Creates and manages employee schedule and weekly payroll time tracking and approvals

Review work completed to ensure it is up to quality standards

Operates shop machinery such as skid steer loaders, Utility wheel loaders

Ensures that shop area is clean, organized, and free of dangerous or hazardous material

Additional tasks as required

Basic/Required Qualifications

Minimum 8 years’ experience in a shop foremen/manager role

Registered Heavy Equipment Tech and/or Automotive Technician preferred

Valid Driver’s License

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Ability to manage tasks in a timely and efficient manner

Demonstrated willingness to learn and succeed

Ability to take direction and work independently as well as part of a team

Legally authorized to work in Canada

Preferred Qualifications

Proficiency with computer maintenance programs

Experience utilizing SharePoint or other work order tracking system

First Aid Training

Hydraulic experience

Diesel engine diagnostic experience

Working conditions

Monday - Friday, Typically 40 hours per week

Working within both indoor (60-80%) and outdoor (up to 40%) work environments; ability to withstand cold and hot temperatures, dusty and loud work environments

Full range of body motion; including repetitive motions which specifically affect upper body use

Considerable standing, walking, squatting, pushing/pulling, grasping, lifting, and reaching

Some climbing, sitting, and driving

Manual and finger dexterity as well as eye-hand and foot coordination

Ability to perform tasks involving heavy lifting/carrying of items up to 80lbs
