**The Position**: We’re looking for a F/T Temporary Jr. Bookkeeper to join our Admin team through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. It would be 35 hours a week for 8 weeks. The position is for a detail-oriented and motivated junior bookkeeper to support our accounting department and the Accounting Assistant. You will be maintaining accurate financial records and day-to-day bookkeeping tasks. The wage starts at $19.25 per hour.
**Job Summary**:
**Reports to Executive Director and Accounting Assistant**:
- Duties may include fielding telephone calls, receiving and directing visitors, word processing, data entry, creating spreadsheets and presentations, and scanning and filing.
- Extensive software skills, experience with the Microsoft suite (specifically Excel), QuickBooks desktop, internet research abilities, and strong communication skills are required.
- The junior bookkeeper will oversee recording day-to-day financial records, such as accounts payable, receivable, payroll, and bank reconciliations, maintain and update the general ledger, process invoices, and receipts.
- You will be supporting the Accounting Assistant in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports. Additionally, you will be supporting the Accounting Assistant in reconciling bank reports and ensuring compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- All administrative tasks require high sensitivity to the vulnerable populations that we serve, and the confidentiality of data moving within our organization.
**Requirements**:
- Vulnerable population criminal record clearance
- Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments.
- Skilled in time management and the ability to multitask and prioritize work.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Must have excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Must have the ability to work with co-workers and be team-oriented.
- Must be comfortable working in an environment with individuals with mental illness.
