**PURCHASING ASSISTANT (Full Time - Contract)**

**JOB SUMMARY**:
The **Purchasing Assistant** provides clerical and administrative support within the Purchasing Department.

**JOB TASKS**:

- Processes fully released purchase orders
- Investigates pricing issues on invoices
- Traces late purchase orders
- Expedites purchase orders
- Takes meeting minutes as required; prepares and distributes minutes
- Updates information records in SAP
- Enters new suppliers in SAP
- Assists with the maintenance of material and vendor databases
- Investigates vendor incidents; provides resolutions to problems
- Prepares reports to support the purchasing function

**COMPETENCIES**:

- Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Word and Excel software programs
- Must have strong time management and organizational skills; able to multi-task effectively
- Must have strong communications skills, both verbal and written
- Must have strong interpersonal skills
- Must have a demonstrated strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy; detail-oriented

**REQUIRMENTS**:

- Complete testing per WI 6.2.1.2 - General Hiring Practice Guidelines
- Secondary school (High School) diploma

**PREFERRED**:

- Previous experience in a purchasing role
- Experience using SAP software
