**HEI Schools Early Learning Centre **is a brand-new centre having opened our doors on February 13, 2023.

This is a wonderful opportunity for an ECA looking for a new start-up experience in a thriving community that is building and growing. HEI Schools is an inspired Finnish approach to Early Childhood Education. This approach has been used in Finland for many years and is now spreading worldwide. Waterdown is the first in Canada to experience this unique type of childcare.

Early Childhood Education Assistant under the direction of the Lead RECE and Supervisor works closely with all employees in the organization to plan and develop age-appropriate programs to enhance the cognitive, physical, social, and emotional develop according to _Organization’s _program statement and philosophy and the Child Care Early Years Act, using Early Learning for Every Child Today (ELECT), and How Does Learning Happen? Children's Services and Public Health Guidelines including HEI Schools Pedagogy. All educators are expected to develop and maintain professional relationships with families and co-workers.
- REQUIREMENTS: _**WORK CONDITIONS & PHYSICAL CAPABILITIES**_
- Able to walk up 2 flights of stairs
- Lift and/or move between 10 pounds up to 30 pounds.
- Must be comfortable being in and around water on trips.
- Repetitive Tasks
- Attention to detail
- Frequent combinations of sitting, climbing, standing, walking, balancing, bending, crouching,
- Kneeling, and crawling
- Combination of indoor and outdoor environments
- Exposure to; high noise levels, bodily fluids, infectious illness/diseases, occasional inclement weather

**EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS**:

- Early Childhood Education Assistant Certificate an asset but not required
- Knowledge of the CCEYA, How Does Learning Happen and the ELECT document
- Knowledge of the Occupation Health and Safety Act
- Knowledge of AODA
- Knowledge of HEI Schools or other Regional Quality Assessment Tools (if applicable)

**EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS**:

- Current satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check
- PVSC to be completed every 5 years on work anniversary, to sign a declaration form annually with 2 weeks of work anniversary of alternate years.
- Valid Standard First Aid training and Level “C” CPR
- Health Assessment, T.B. test, up-to-date immunizations
- Signing off on all policies annually.
- Participate in HEI Teacher Diploma Training along with pedagogical work.

**Start Date: September 9, 2024**

**Starting Wage $18.55 - $19.55 (inclusive of $2 per hour WEG)**

2 weeks vacation

8 sick days

Funding available for other professional development

HEI Pedagogy Teacher Diploma program

**HOURS OF WORK**_**:_

The staff will be paid for 35 -40 hours per week based on 8 hours a day, Monday through Friday.

Hours of work may vary based on enrollment

Staff get 1-hour unpaid lunch
