**Job Title**:Regina - LCV/Turnpike Driver **Department**: Terminal **Reports to**: Dispatch **Summary** The LCV/Turnpike Driver is responsible for hauling freight between 2 locations. Normally, two trailers are hauled together (referred to as a “Turnpike” or "Rocky" ). Work and cooperate with other terminal staff to ensure the efficient use of the yard tractor, convertors, as well as trailers. Work and cooperate with all external and internal customers to ensure a high level of customer service. Hours or shift may vary depending on freight volumes and customer requirements. **Duties and Responsibilities** - Safely operate and perform routine checks of all trucks and trailers used. - Complete all necessary shipping documents to ensure proper freight handling. - Open/Close trailer doors, hook/unhook trailers (cranking dollies), handle converter when hauling Extended Length Combinations (2 trailers), climb in and out of tractor. - Perform other duties as required to support the terminal and the Gardewine team - Supports all Safety & Health initiatives for the safety of all drivers, customers and other terminal employees by following all safety policies and procedures including the incident reporting system. **Qualifications** Strong interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to perform physical requirements of this type of work. Valid Class 1 in good standing. Experience with all types of pickup and delivery activities, and the ability to work independently and with mínimal supervision. Able to provide a tandem tractor that meets company requirements. **Physical Requirements** Cranking trailer dollies (requires approximately 50 lbs of force). Hooking/unhooking trailers and converter (requires approximately 50 lbs of force). Open/close trailer doors and extended periods of sitting required while driving long distances.
