**(Assigned to FUTURES Café)**
**POSITION SCOPE**:
Utilizing person-directed plans, the Job Coach will provide training and support to employees of the FUTURES Café. The Cafe Job Coach is responsible to provide on the job training to specific employees in accordance with their Individualized Success Plans and the ongoing work requirements.
This is the key assisting position for the day to day operation of FUTURES Café.
Participation in production activities will be done as a team, taking into account individual skills and abilities. Staff are role models, and as such, need to be aware at all times of the messages being conveyed through attitude, respectfulness, communication, appearance, and work habits.
This position reports to the Program Manager of Building FUTURES Employment Society, Glendale location.
**RESPONSIBILITIES**:
FUTURES supports healthy relationships between and among all the people and organizations with whom we deal, internally and externally. The Cafe Job Coach will contribute to this direction through their respectful behaviour and attitude towards others.
The Cafe Job Coach supports people in maximizing their independence and self-reliance by providing opportunities for continuous learning and by supporting and respecting self-determination through person-directed planning.
The Cafe Job Coach will represent FUTURES in a positive and professional manner, both onsite and in the community. Professionalism will be demonstrated by dress, attitude and all work-related interactions. Staff of FUTURES are also expected to maintain an appropriate image within the community such as when on personal social media sites.
Professional communication is an expectation. All forms of communication will be respectful, clear, accurate and effective. Written documentation will be professional and will demonstrate proficiency with written English.
FUTURES is committed to maintaining workplaces and working conditions that are healthy and safe for all. The Job coach is jointly responsible for ensuring that our workplace and working conditions are safe and healthy by correcting and reporting any and all hazards as per policy.
**Responsibilities and Duties**:
**A. **PROGRAM & SUPPORT**
- Implement effective teaching strategies to assist employees in skill development.
- Develop and carry out programs with employees.
- Prepare for Individual Success Plan (ISP) meetings with employees; with employees identify goals, preferences and skills; participate in ISP’s to support employee.
- Maintain appropriate file information for each employee.
- Communicate with parents/guardians/caregivers information, (e.g. progress, additions, revisions in programs) within confidentiality guidelines.
- Carry out recording procedures:
- Individual programs, baselines, maintenance, progress charts and reports, daily journals, Incident Reports resulting in appropriate files for each employee.
- Daily phone narrative to appropriate residential facilities.
- Participate in staff and employee meetings.
- Provide on-site job coaching that emphasizes learning work skills, understanding expectations, working towards independence, and allowing for dignity of risk.
- Provide social skills training
- Provide pre-employment and ongoing training in related issues, e.g. hygiene, workplace expectations, constructive criticism, etc.
- Provide personal care support to individuals as required; inclusive of toileting, washing, menstrual care, proper dress for work and weather.
**B. **PRODUCTION**
**_CAFÉ OPERATION_**
- Follows all health and safety rules and requirements and adheres to standards as per Food Handling course.
- Support and assist in catering orders; taking orders, delivery, food preparation
- Document employee routines and procedures for operation of cafe, as appropriate/required.
- In consultation with Café Manager sources recipe ideas and variety for the menu.
- Prepares and cooks food items in tasty, healthy, timely manner.
- Operates cash register for purchases; operates Interac debit/credit system and able to balance amounts
- Using approved grocery list, on occasion will be required to shop for groceries as required in most economical manner.
- Ensures Café is kept in a high standard of cleanliness.
- Maintains awareness of inventory of all supplies and order as approved.
- To maintain positive customer relations; communicate with customer in person,
**C. **TRAINING AND DEVELOPMENT**
- To identify training needs, identify sources for training and to request necessary/appropriate training.
- To attend training events when scheduled to do so.
- To use various media sources to keep current on information available in this field and in specialized area of responsibility.
**D. **OTHER**
- Designs and implements specific training projects for clientele when appropriate
