We are currently looking for a full time **Custodian** to join our team. The Village by the Arboretum is an award-winning adult lifestyle community in Guelph and is currently home to over 1200 residents.

If you enjoy working independently and collaboratively with others, handle pressure well, and have the communication skills needed to interact with residents in a friendly, respectful, and helpful way on a daily basis, this opportunity is for you. Reporting to the Facility Supervisor, Village by the Arboretum (VBA), you will provide cleaning services and set up for functions for the residents in the Village centre on a daily basis.

You understand sanitary and institutional cleaning principles, and can use a floor buffer/scrubber. You also hold a valid Class G driver’s license. You must be able to lift up to 20 kg, and work at heights.

The Custodian we seek will have the following skills and qualifications:

**Customer Service**:

- Assist activity groups.

**Village Centre**:

- General cleaning of all areas of the Village Centre.
- Operation of carpet cleaners and floor scrubbers.
- Cleaning of kitchen including all appliances, and operation of equipment when required.
- Clean and maintain resident coffee area.
- Laundering of janitorial cleaning cloths.
- Perform window cleaning of all French doors, entrance doors and minor windows.
- Cleaning of exercise equipment and mirrors in Fitness Room.
- Clean washrooms and change rooms/shower area, maintain all washroom supplies.
- Assist with cleaning and salting of building entrances.
- Assist in the seasonal outdoor set up.
- Set
- up and take down for various resident events and all other VBA special functions.
- Monitors and cleans the patio, patio furniture, and maintain outdoor seasonal planters.
- Reports supply needs for ordering purposes.
- Assist with pool testing and cleaning when required.
- Reports maintenance issues that require attention.

**Additional Buildings**:

- Daily and weekend cleaning of medical building.
- General cleaning of gatehouse when requested.
- General cleaning of Landscape Building requested.
- General cleaning of Parking Garage when requested.
- Other duties and responsibilities as required and assigned.

- Criminal Record and Judicial Matters Check.
- Valid driver's license and clean driver's abstract.
- Proof of full COVID-19 vaccination.
- Understand the principles of sanitary cleaning.
- Safely use cleaning products.
- Able to use commercial floor scrubbers and carpet cleaners.
- Knowledge of WHMIS.
- Organizational and time management skills.
- Excellent independent work ethic.
- Exemplary listening skills and problem-solving ability.
- Interpersonal and communication skills.
- Must be available for flex hours of work between (9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.)
- Weekends and Holidays - 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Weekdays - 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.
- Scheduled by Facility Supervisor with a minimum of 32-40 hours per week.
- High volume of contact with customers and residents daily.
- High decibels from some equipment.
- Must be able to work unsupervised.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based work environment.

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $20.00-$21.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 32 per week
