The Safety Specialist promotes a positive safety culture while complying with NRI Distribution safety standards and maintaining a safe work environment. This includes training and coaching Managers, Supervisors, Trainers, and associates on observed work habits.

- Experience using Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook in a professional capacity.
- Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace.
The Must Haves:
- 2 year diploma in Occupational Health & Safety.
- 2 years professional Occupational Health & Safety experience in a large organization environment.
- First Aid and CPR certification preferred.
- Strong knowledge of claims management processes.
- Experience using Microsoft Office; Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook in a professional capacity.
**Things You Will be Doing**
- Maintains NRI’s Safety program.
- Ability to resource and understand legislative requirements as it pertains to NRI Operational requirements.
- Responsible for ensuring Hazard Assessments and Toolbox Talks are completed.
- Puts forward recommendations for improvements on Safe Work Practices and Health and Safety Policies.
- Identifies opportunities in the Safety program and revises or creates policy and procedures to close the gaps.
- Tracks, maintains, archives, all safety training documentation, databases to keep a real time status.
- Manages the claims and injury management process (work related injuries) for Canada.
- Coordinates annual safety training is provided to team members.
- Ensures COR certification is achieved annually.
- Puts together the monthly safety metrics for management, identifies trends, and puts together recommendations.
