Through the HCDSB Social Work department, students and caregivers are supported to enhance student well-being and academic success.We are seeking qualified Social Workers to be placed in a casual pool to fill short-term vacancies during the school year. Successful candidates may be offered contracts of up to eight (8) weeks in length, and based on the needs of the schools, could be deployed anywhere within the Halton Region. Position Details School Locations: To Be DeterminedEffective Date: Immediately Salary: $63,827 - $96,139 (as per the Collective Agreement) Job SummaryUnder the direction of the Senior Manager, Social Work, Social Workers are members of an integrated school team who liaise with a variety of stakeholders to ensure student success. Social Workers provide direct service and consultation to students and caregivers through counselling, community referrals, and coordinating with school staff to meet student needs. As part of a multi-disciplinary school team, Social Workers also provide consultation around strategies to enhance student engagement.Qualifications / Experience Masters of Social Work with registration with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service WorkersMinimum one (1) year clinical experience required; experience working with students is an assetKnowledgeable of legislation as it relates to Education, child welfare, and health legislationsDemonstrated ability to deal with sensitive and confidential issuesAbility to work both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary teamStrong verbal and written communication skillsCapacity to work in a culturally responsive manner and to engage members of diverse communities.
