**JOB DESCRIPTION**

Under the supervision of the Recreation Program and Volunteer Manager, you are responsible for ensuring that the emotional, cognitive, physical, spiritual, and social needs of the residents are met and maintained on an individual and group basis. Permanent Part-time Recreation team members are needed for a weekend recreation team, and Casual Recreation team members are needed to complement our existing full-time team for coverage during evenings, weekends, and planned vacations. **Students are welcome to apply**

**RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate resident focused programs in accordance with the care plan goals and preferences of the residents
- Implement, and monitor program goals and care plans to meet resident recreational needs and promote independence and self-esteem
- Collaborate with other departments to optimize resident care
- Positive working relationship with residents and families
- Conduct resident assessments
- Participate in resident care conferences
- Develop and implement new innovative programs to reflect changing residents needs, and/or upon request
- Encourage and motivate resident participation
- Direct or lead programs
- Deliver programs to residents on a one-to-one basis or in groups
- Train and supervise assigned volunteers
- Supervise student placements and summer staff as assigned
- Set up equipment and supplies for programs
- Ensure appropriate utilization of all supplies and equipment
- Maintain recreational equipment and supplies in good working condition
- Adapt programs (equipment and supplies) to meet the needs of the residents
- Maintain accurate resident and department records including attendance, statistics, and assessments
- Develop monthly recreation calendars
- Input monthly calendar on MSTV and update programs, as necessary
- Participate in Welbi, PointClickCare and RAI/MDS documentation
- Engage in reflective practise to ensure appropriate and thorough programming is taking place.
- Perform other duties as required to ensure the safety and well-being of the residents in the Home

**QUALIFICATIONS**:

- **Currently enrolled in (or graduated from) a post-secondary Diploma or Degree in the fields of: Therapeutic Recreation, Leisure Studies, Gerontology, or related fields from a recognized Community College or University**:

- Experience and a desire to work with a geriatric population
- Effective interpersonal communication and strong leadership skills
- Creative, energetic and positive team player with an ability to manage time efficiently and be organized as well as be able to prioritize tasks
- Demonstrate good listening skills
- Computer literate with an understanding of Welbi, RAI-MDS and PointClickCare
- Familiarity with the Jewish religion, customs and culture considered an asset
- Excellent verbal and written skills in English
