**Basic Function**:
Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI), an HF Sinclair company is seeking a temporary full-time Advisor - Safety & Industrial Hygiene. Reporting to the Team Leader of Safety, Security and Emergency Response, the Advisor is responsible for the Lubricants Plant and as well ancillary facilities such as Research & Development, offices and warehouses as needed. PCLI has a strong safety culture and this position will continue to build upon that strong foundation by coaching line management and providing front line field support for safety and industrial hygiene (IH) as well as continuous improvement in processes and management systems.

**Job Duties**:

- Develop strong relationship with Shift Supervisors, Area Team Leaders and frontline employees to coach and support to ensure effective sustainment of the safety culture and it’s processes and management systems
- Develop, implement and sustain safety programs as required, to mitigate risk and continuously improve
- Key player in the incident management process for the Lubricants Centre and provides guidance and where necessary participate in and drive the investigation of work-related injuries/illnesses, on-the-job accidents, or near misses as required
- Evaluate current and emerging safety and IH related regulations and applicable standards, communicate impact and recommend risk based mitigation actions
- Participate and foster active engagement with Joint Health and Safety Committees and Safety Representatives
- Interface with regulatory authorities on safety and industrial hygiene matters
- Develop industrial hygiene programs for chemical, physical and biological hazards including maintenance and calibration of IH equipment
- Conduct or oversee workplace assessments to identify, quantify and control risk to people, property and equipment and to identify and mitigate chemical, physical, biological and ergonomics issues
- Own the chemical approval process and vendor SDS management process
- Develop, implement and manage Safety and IH work processes requiring collaboration in Petro-Canada Lubricants and the larger HollyFrontier organization
- Participate in Canadian Fuels Association for applicable matters such as Chemical Management Plan
- Participate in and support the sharing of safety related information, skills and best practices across the organization
- Drive strong and effective partnerships across many departments and teams to deliver exceptional EH&S programs
- Prioritize multiple competing tasks and requests to allow effective management of important issues

Special assignments or tasks assigned to the employee by their supervisor, as determined from time to time in their sole and complete discretion

**Experience**:

- Minimum 1-2 years related work experience in Industrial Hygiene or Safety, with preference for both
- Experience in a refining or lubricant production environment

**Education Level**:

- Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (such as BSc in Occupational and Public Health) or Technologist in related field
- Professional Certification in Safety or Industrial Hygiene is an asset

**Required Skills**:

- Knowledgeable with safety related Acts, Regulations and Standards and ability to interpret applicability to the operations
- Strong analytical skills with EHS data and metrics
- Strong understanding of risk assessment and prioritization based on risk
- Familiar with root cause analysis tools such as TapRoot
- Able to effectively advise and use non-authoritative leadership skills to influence Leaders and client groups and external peers
- Strong analytical and investigative skills to develop effective solutions and recommendations for complex events and problems
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, organizational and relationship building skills

**Work Conditions**:

- This is a temporary full-time position for approximately 12-14 months
- Physically able to climb ladders and carry equipment weighing up to 35 pounds
- While wearing appropriate personal protective equipment, incumbent will enter areas with chemical, physical, and biological hazards
- Shift-work may be required during times of planned maintenance turnarounds approx. every 2 years
- Some travel generally within Canada and U.S. is required for functional network meetings or training
- Extended hours may be required when business requirements dictate
- Available to be on call periodically as part of emergency response support team
