Aon is seeking a National Industry Client Leader for our Energy clients. The is a pivotal role based in Calgary, Alberta, accountable for leading a team responsible for Aon’s relationship with its most strategic clients in Canada and across solution lines.

Your Impact as a National Energy Practice Leader
Drawing on your leadership skills and success, you will inspire your team, drive innovative solutions to meet client needs, and grow our businesses in the Canadian market. You will supervise and lead the Energy client satisfaction, profitability, and experience in delivery, while providing strategic leadership on new business pursuits. You will drive colleague engagement and retention and help to grow our talent. And you will possess a growth mindset, showcasing an openness to learning, having the courage to make mistakes, and are nimble when faced with new and uncertain situations.
What the day will look like
Each day is unique in this role. The daily work may look like any combination of the following:
Develop and implement the strategic vision and direction of the Canadian Energy market
Partner with solution line leaders and other business partners for growth, strategic direction, and client service
Grow revenue and increase market share within the Canadian market
Lead overall performance and business P&L to include revenue and overall profitability
Develop national strategies to improve client acquisition, satisfaction, and retention
Lead and collaborate with the Energy team leaders to implement and complete, local, national and global initiatives
Cultivate colleague engagement and proactively build and maintain a talent pipeline
Network with external senior talent across the industry to deepen succession plans and strengthen the practice
Work with market and office leaders to build Energy market presence, raising awareness within the Canadian market
Focus on leadership development by servicing as a mentor and coach to direct reports and other high potential talent
Keep a pulse on emerging business opportunities and partner with Head of Growth and Innovation - Natural Resources to bring new insights and solutions to the Energy sector as it navigates the Energy Transition
Work with other national industry leaders and Energy leaders globally to better understand our client current and future challenges and be able to use that information and analysis to explore potential solutions
Current working knowledge of all relevant industry data and pro-active in introducing innovative ideas to help clients contemplate risk management with fresh perspective
Possesses strong influence across the Aon organization to align resources to best serve the client’s needs.

Skills and experience that will lead to success
10+ years Account Executive experience in the Energy sector
Extensive knowledge of the Energy industry
Track record of client leadership through onboarding, education, team coordination and renewal
Strong presentation skills
Strong organization and prioritization skills
Demonstrated ability to create a collaborative and results driven team environment
Track record of new business production as primary producer or key team member
Strong technical coverage background
