Horticulturalist

The Club at North Halton is a private 18-hole parkland style golf course. North Halton’s beautiful, landscaped grounds incorporate the natural beauty of our tree-lined fairways, wooded ravines and natural foliage all hidden in the valley of Georgetown. We are looking for someone to help drive our vision and create a place our members can call home.

**Position**

This position will report to the Golf Course Superintendent and will provide you the unique opportunity to work in the golf course industry. We are looking for someone that will take charge and help create and highlight the beauty though our flower beds. This individual will work with the superintendent and other key staff and members to develop and design a plan for the 2023 season. They will be given a budget that they will have to manage and work within.

**Responsibilities**
- Design and layout of the gardens.
- Purchasing - plant material, mulch, fertilizer and amendments.
- Maintain flower beds - weed, water, fertilize, edge and mulch.
- Work closely with key club members to gain an understanding of wants/needs.
- Equipment Operation - line trimmer, push mower, rototiller, backpack blower, utility vehicles, sprayer and tractor.
- Other tasks as assigned - help with the maintenance of the golf course when needed.

**Work Schedule**

Monday-Friday and the possibility of some weekend shifts. 5:30am - 2:30pm, start times are adjusted to sunrise.

**Qualifications**
- Currently enrolled in, or graduated from a horticulture diploma program.
- Able to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- The understanding of IPM and the ability to ID pests/diseases, nutrition deficiencies and environmental stress.
- The understanding of proper plant selections in different environments.

**Compensation**
- $18-26/hour -based on experience
- Membership to Landscape Ontario

Pay: $18.00-$26.00 per hour
