Full Time Meat Department Assistant Manager

**Experience**
- Knowledgeable of various cuts of meat. Safeway specific training will be provided

**Key Responsibilities**
- Upholds and complies with company procedures, standards and policies in all situations
- Assist Meat Manager with supervising department staff, to include scheduling, training and assigning duties.
- Greets customers in a polite and friendly manner
- Demonstrates superior customer service in accordance with Safeway’s programs
- Cut and prepare meat products for display using knives and saws
- Stocking various meat products to shelves
- Maintaining and building merchandise displays in compliance with Safeway programs
- Use of commercial power equipment
- Order writing
- Receiving and rotating product
- Filling product showcases
- Cleaning and sanitizing of work area

**Physical Requirements** (Seldom: Not Daily, Rare: 0-5% of shift, Occasional: 6-33% of shift, Frequent: 34-66% of shift, Constant: 66-100% of shift)
- Constant lifting of up to 20 pounds
- Constant hand coordination, reaching and gripping
- Frequent standing, squatting, bending, walking, twisting, pushing or pulling
- Occasional lifting of between 20-100 pounds
- Occasional exposure to cold temperatures

**Overview**

The Assistant Meat Department Manager supports and assists the Produce Department Manager in the efficient and fiscally responsible operation of the department. In absence of the Department Manager, the Assistant Manager will supervise, coach, motivate and train staff to achieve the highest level of customer service, adherence to all Food Safety Protocols, Standard Operating Procedures, corporate policies and Health and Safety, and other programs and initiatives. The Assistant Department Manager will foster customer loyalty, fulfill customer needs and actively contribute to an environment of employee and customer engagement.
- Provide customer service to exceed customer needs
- Comfortable handling meat and seafood.
- Supervise Meat department personnel in the absence of Meat Manager
- Promote an employee culture of coaching and development
- Complete custom meat orders
- Receive meat orders
- Perform daily meat department preparation
- Merchandise the Meat Department
- Maintain sanitation and safety standards
- Adhere to and implement all applicable company standards
- Perform administrative duties as required
- Other duties as required
