**Position**: Traffic Controller

**Location**: 375 Gage Avenue North

**Status**: Full Time Permanent

**Summary**

In this role, you will be part of a team that is responsible for the directing customer traffic within our transfer station. From previous experience, you'll already know the importance of health and safety in the workplace, and you'll champion our culture of making sure everyone gets home safely. This role will be working outdoors year-round in all weather conditions.

**Responsibilities**:

- Must adhere to Budget Environmental safety protocols and must be familiar with occupational Health & Safety Act.
- Control incoming waste and recyclables and loading out haulage vehicles.
- Complete understanding of the required Hand Signals for spotting vehicles.
- Undertake general laboring duties and may operate heavy equipment as required.
- Direct traffic in the tipping areas and acts as a signal person around the site.
- Perform visual inspections of loads for contamination purposes and reject all hazardous, combustible, or items not accepted.
- Comply with ISO procedures, Standard Operating Procedures and all Health and Safety Regulations and Policies.
- Inspecting the workplace for hazardous and/or potentially hazardous conditions.
- Liaise with other supervisors, drivers, contractors and Regional staff in a professional and team-oriented manner.
- Reports to Supervisor on unacceptable materials being dumped.

**Education**
- Minimum High School Degree/GED

**Experience**
- Organization skills, sorting and processing experience, physically demanding job lifting up to 50lbs, bending reaching, working with minimum supervision.

- Required to use motor coordination with arm, hand, finger, and leg dexterity continuously and repeatedly throughout 10 hour shift.
- Requires pushing, pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, sitting and lifting continuously and repeatedly.

**License/Certifications/Designations**
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required for the role (preferred)
- Ministry of Labor (MOL) Worker Health and Safety Awareness in 4 Steps
- WHMIS

Other
- Yearly medical assessment: lead, chest Xray, pulmonary function test, hearing, and vision.

**Shift**
- You will be working a 10 hour shift from Monday to Friday from 7am to 5pm.
- Required to work alternating Saturdays from 7am to 1pm.
