Forklift Operator/order Picker

Gillies Lumber is a company with roots dating back to the early 1900’s and is part of the Alpa Lumber Group. We provide high-quality products to homeowners, contractors, and builders while our affiliate companies manufacture windows. In addition, we manufacture roof trusses and custom stairs and railings on site. **Full Time Days**

Monday to Friday 7:00am - 5:00pm

**Key Responsibilities**
- Perform daily inspections of lift trucks and complete required forms
- Hand pick lumber orders to required specifications
- Load and unload building materials in a safe and efficient manner
- Check load contents for accuracy and secure materials
- Ensure that all products are picked on schedule and according to specific instructions by management to meet customer demands
- Maintain contact with supervisor(s) and workers to resolve issues as they arise
- Follow all regulations, company policies, and procedures
- Other duties as assigned by management

**Skills and Qualifications**
- Valid forklift Certificate, Class 4 or 5 is required
- Effective written and oral communication skills
- Knowledge of basic mathematics
- Basic hand tool skills
- Able to work accurately in a fast paced environment

**Physical requirements include**
- Ability to work **outdoors, year-round, in all weather conditions**:

- Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
- Frequently climb up into and down out of a forklift
- Pulling, pushing, bending and torso twisting movements with weight

**Work Environment**
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
- The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to sit and talk or hear.
- The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Additionally, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes, or airborne particles, outside weather conditions, risk of electrical shock, and vibration.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
