**Position Description**

During COVID-19, we have been facilitating programs remotely, using a variety of platforms (including Zoom, Google Meets, and Microsoft Teams, depending on our user base). We’ll be moving back to in-person facilitation when health and safety requirements allow us to do so, with the potential for keeping some virtual facilitation.

**Key areas of responsibility will include**:

- Planning and facilitating a daily two hour Career Awareness/Exploration workshop to grade 7 students and other groups who attend the HIEC Career Development Lab;
- Planning, designing and delivering of all workshops pertaining to the Career Development Lab including all administrative tasks associated with program delivery;
- Facilitating of Resume Writing/Interview Skills, Labour Market Information, Career Studies and Pathway Planning Workshops in high school classrooms
- Planning and facilitating skilled trades awareness and job-readiness programs and workshops related to the skilled trades;
- Facilitating student participation in career and life planning related projects;
- Actively participate in annual events to support the overall HIEC vision of being the broker of information to the community;
- Partnering with various community stakeholders, including Educators and Donors to ensure program runs smoothly;
- Collecting and disseminating of all materials needed by education partners on an on-going basis;
- Providing individual career counselling to students/adults as needed;
- Creating and maintaining processes to track and measure program engagement and effectiveness, such as surveys and testimonials; and
- Providing insight and input into future programming needs based on your experiences with our current programs.

- Exceptional facilitation skills and the ability to be creative and successfully promote new concepts, skills and ideas to youth with an innovative approach;
- Passionate about working with youth;
- Keen interest in program development and delivery, especially around career awareness and development;
- Resourceful and able to provide solutions to effectively deal with challenging situations
- Outstanding ability to communicate and foster relationships with all levels/stakeholders
- Superior planning and organizational skills with exceptional attention to detail
- Proven ability to work effectively under pressure, to be part of a team, to be responsive and to meet deadlines; and
- Interest and ability to work in a smaller-sized, not-for-profit organization.

**Qualifications to succeed**:

- Post-Secondary education with a focus on Education, Career Development or equivalent
- Previous experience working in a not-for-profit organization is considered an asset
- Knowledge of the Skilled Trades or Apprenticeship programs
- Ability to adapt instructional materials and strategies to accommodate individual and group differences, as well as special needs of learners
- Experience running facilitations and/or presentations is considered an asset
- Knowledge of Career Development and Labour Market Information an asset
- Designation to provide Personality Dimensions workshops an asset
- Advanced computer skills (MS Office, Outlook)
- Proven ability with e-learning tools and social media
- Demonstrated skill in writing communications clearly and concisely
- Possess a valid driver’s license and own a reliable vehicle with appropriate insurance, willing to do some travelling

**Working Conditions**
- Typical working hours are 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, Monday to Friday, with some requirement to work additional hours, occasionally during evenings and weekends.
- Currently work is remote/from home, with a planned return to work in our Burlington office when it is safe to do so.
- Required to travel within Ontario for presentations, partnership meetings, conferences, etc. when in-person meetings are safe and permitted.

Currently working remotely but working on a return to the office plan. This position will require some on site facilitation and presentation delivery.
