**Responsibilities**:
**Qualifications**:

- Education:
- Masters of Science in Chemistry or related discipline
- Masters of Science in Analytical Chemistry or related discipline with training and specialization in instrumental analysis preferred
- Experience:
- 3 years’ experience in a research or service laboratory setting
- Experience with mercury/metals analyses; Experience operating under an ISO 17025 accreditation preferred
- Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- In-depth knowledge of analytical chemistry with an ability to take on challenges in adapting new analytical methods
- Demonstrated knowledge of specialized mercury analysis instruments such as DMA, Tekran 2600, Tekran 2700, and ICP-MS
- Knowledge of the laboratory safety, chemical waste disposal procedures and WHMIS legislation
- Project management skills to assist with the successful completion of multiple projects simultaneously
- Multi-tasking skills to prioritize and consistently produce high-quality work within deadlines
- Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
- Excellent communication skills with a demonstrated ability to complete detailed analytics and reports
- Excellent troubleshooting ability along with hands-on expertise in technical support
- Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems
- Intermediate computer skills in Microsoft Office
- Ability to collaborate across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes and support work beyond one's own unit
