Under the direction of the Administrator the Housekeeping Manager will fill a key management position; a role that is pivotal in enhancing our Mission Values.
**Responsibilities**:
- **Administrative Leadership & Management**:_
- Develop and implement short, mid and long-term planning schedules for the department focusing on cost-effective services in line with the mission and values of the Motherhouse and best practices.
- Scheduling, directing, overseeing, and monitoring staff, including time sheets to payroll, performance issues and appraisals, vacation requests.
- Collaborating with the Human Resources Officer (HRO) in addressing human resources issues, such as job postings, hiring, disciplinary measures, grievances, and dismissals.
- Ensuring staff complete training as required by internal policy or legislative requirements, such as Emergency Preparedness and Occupational Health and Safety
- In coordination with Department Managers and committees, provide input into required changes related to housekeeping, laundry, and sewing services
- In consultation with the IPAC Coordinator, implement infection prevention policy and procedures related to housekeeping services.
- **Budget Planning, Inventory, Contracts and Equipment Control**:_
- Preparing, monitoring and adhering to operation budgets for Motherhouse Housekeeping, Laundry and the Sewing Department
- Provides input and recommendations to other associated Management Departments and monitors related expenditures
- Plans, maintains and tracks adequate inventory supplies and negotiates appropriate contracts as per necessary protocols.
- **Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement**:_
- Solicit feedback from Sisters, Director of Care and team members to identify areas of improvement and implement changes accordingly.
- Participate in regulatory inspections and audits, addressing any deficiencies and implementing corrective actions as needed.
- Compliance and participation with all health and safety and Emergency Response protocols.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant federal, provincial and local regulations governing housekeeping service operations
**Skills and Requirements**
- College Certificate or Diploma in Business Administration or associated program. _**(required)**_
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Issues Related to Housekeeping and Laundry Services and Public Health Guidelines in Congregate living settings.
- A minimum of 3-5 years of managerial experience in Housekeeping Services or related fields (e.g., housekeeping, housing, cleaning services, hotel management). _**(required)**_
- Experience working with and meeting the needs of seniors (age 65+) preferred.
- Solid understanding & working knowledge of best practices for environmental cleaning standards
- Proficient in MS Office/Office 365 (Excel, Work, Outlook)
- Strong people management skills that can guide, motivate and supervise a diverse team while also being able to delegate tasks effectively and timely
- Demonstrates organizational and team-building skills; delegates and collaborates easily; possesses effective decision-making skills;
- Excellent interpersonal skills, is an effective listener and is detail-oriented.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to be discrete and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- You are able to think quickly, adapt to changing situations, and resolve issues efficiently
- Class G Driver’s License
- Bilingual (French/English) considered an asset
- Police Vulnerable Sector Check - less than 1 year old _**(required)**_
- 2-step TB test - (or updated status) _**(required)**_
