- Calculate heating and cooling loads
- Design duct systems
- Manufacture and assemble different prefabricated fibreglass elements
- Manufacture and assemble in the factory the ducts for hot air heating, air conditioning and ventilation
- Manufacture and assemble water evacuation systems for buildings
- Read blueprints, drawings and specifications to determine work requirements
- Select equipment for residential and small commercial construction
- Measure and mark sheet metal according to template
- Operate metalworking machines to cut, punch, drill, shape or straighten sheet metal
- Grind and buff seams, joints and rough surfaces
- Inspect products to ensure quality and conformity to specification
- Instruct apprentices
- Cut materials using power tools or by hand
- Fit and join sheet metal parts
- Install sheet metal products according to specifications and building codes
