**The Opportunity**:
Waste and Recycling Services provides residents with options for managing their residential/household waste through services and education, considering environmental, social, and economic impacts. Waste and Recycling Services endeavors to position Airdrie as a municipal leader in environmental stewardship.

The Waste Diversion Education Assistants will be responsible for administering the City of Airdrie’s Cart Wizard Program to promote and encourage waste diversion at the curb. This position will also assist the Education Coordinator at various events throughout the term.

Primary accountabilities include:

- Conduct visual audits on green (organic) and blue (recycling) carts to check for compliance with the City of Airdrie’s waste management programs
- Collect data through use of technology and/or manual means (tablets, cell phones, photographs, data sheets, etc.)
- Respond to inquiries from residents
- Input data from audits and assist in analysis of the data
- Plan and schedule map routes for audits
- Support the Education Coordinator in the preparation and delivery of presentations and programs at community events
- Other duties as assigned

**You Bring**:
Valid Class 5 driver’s licence
- Education or training in a related field (environment, government, geography, public works, waste management) is preferred
- Waste audit experience or understanding of waste and recycling best practices is an asset
- Ability to work independently with mínimal supervision
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to engage with the public in a positive manner
- Good oral and written communication skills with the ability to present information in a clear and logical way
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and problem solve
- Ability to work within time constraints and adapt to changing environments

**Additional Information**:
This position is a summer term (16 weeks) from May 2, 2025 to August 29, 2025 (minimum of 35 hours, up to 37.5 hours per week).

Must be available to start May 2, 2025. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required.

This position involves a considerable amount of walking in all weather conditions.

Work may be physically demanding and will involve some heavy lifting.
