Summer Camp Counsellor

**Position Type**: Seasonal Contract, On-Call, Part-Time & Full-Time Options Available

At Brimacombe ski area we don’t just offer skiing and snowboarding, we offer a place for all ages to get outside, enjoy the fresh air and create memorable experiences Entering our eighth year of summer camps, we are currently seeking fun, outgoing, and responsible Camp Counsellors to help us make Camp Brimacombe a fun and safe place for our campers this summer.

As part of our Camp Brimacombe team, you will be responsible for assisting in programming and leading campers in fun, interactive activities that promote learning for not only the campers, but you as well. We will treat you with respect and give you the opportunity to take ownership this summer by providing input into the camp programs, and helping implement positive growth of campers and the camp itself.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Provide high-quality outdoor educational and recreational experiences for campers through leading weekly-themed programming
- Know, enforce and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes, but is not limited to, being responsible for your campers' safety and their whereabouts at all times
- Help write and implement a weekly schedule for your camp group
- Maintain accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation and daily attendance
- Lead campers through pre-programmed activities during Before and After Camps

**Qualifications**:

- Previous experience or education in camp, youth programs, recreation, working with children, or a related field
- Valid First Aid and CPR-C certification
- Successful Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search, required prior to the first day of work.
- Provide Ministry of Labour Workplace Health and Safety certificate, prior to first day of work
- Provide HIGHFIVE Principals of Healthy Childhood Development certificate, prior to first day of work
- Ability to lead, plan, organize and implement program activities
- Ability to work as a member of a team and the ability to accomplish task with little direct supervision
- Ability to engage in physical labour of lifting, moving (chairs/tables etc.), bending, running and lots of walking (this is a very active job)
- Strong organizational and communication skills
- Must be able to legally work in Canada

**Hiring Timeline**:

- Job posting will remain open until all positions are filled.
- Intermittent paid training will be scheduled mid-June through July.
- Regular hours will begin July, dependent on enrollment, start up and agreed upon availability of applicant.
