**You are**

A_n _**_Intake Counselor_**. You are responsible for the administrative support of the Central region VR and CSC programs and for determining basic eligibility to ensure applicants meet the criteria required to receive Services from Programs at Manitoba Possible.

The Intake Counselor is required to meet multiple deadlines and perform a wide variety of administrative and direct service tasks, which contribute to the efficient operation of the programs and is responsible for handling general enquiries about agency services and assisting callers in linking with appropriate resources, if available.

**Your Role**
- Determines basic eligibility by ensuring that an applicant meets the eligibility criteria. Reviews medical, neuropsychological, psychological, psychiatric, learning assessments and other reports to determine an applicant’s eligibility for Manitoba Possible services programs. Links/re-directs applicants who fall outside the Program mandate with/to the appropriate Service Provider. Handles general enquiries about agency services by assisting callers to locate appropriate resources, if available.
- May meet with applicants and their parents and provide information about the mandate and services of the Program and regarding the eligibility criterion. Documents the information necessary to determine eligibility and to register applicants in Manitoba Possible’s database. Provides an overview of each applicant’s service request Intakes to insure compliance with Manitoba Possible policy.
- Provides core clerical, secretarial, administrative and financial functions to support the service delivery by frontline staff and Supervisor and maintains efficient office operations. Support the Eastman & Interlake Vocational Rehabilitation and CSC programs as first contact for Consumer Inquiries and messages. Compiles information for file review, obtaining resource information as required.
- Ensure compliance and adherence to privacy and confidentiality as outlined in professional standards of practice, agency, provincial and federal guidelines.
- Maintains monthly statistical information that includes the number of referrals, inquiries, openings, re-directions to other service providers and number of intakes pending at month end. Compiles and distributes statistics according to established protocol.
- Creates and maintains all consumer electronic and paper files, including the client database.
- Participates in regular supervision and staff meetings.
- Presents to community based agencies about CSC & VR programs, as requested. Assist with the development of projects such as workshops, parent groups, etc.
- Works in cooperation with collaterals and maintains a positive profile in the community. Develops and maintains productive and harmonious relationships with clients, co-workers and the general public.
- Participates in professional development activities to maintain knowledge of current issues and trends.
- Continuously completes and submits accounting documents and the Petty Cash system in an accurate and timely manner. Provides the maintenance and repair of office equipment when required.
- Creates and maintains a filing system of office administrative records and documents.
- Continuously prepares and edits documents including correspondence, reports, records, templates, spreadsheets, and brochures.
- Provides for the maintenance and repair of office equipment when required.
- Acts as liaison with other Manitoba Possible services such as Wheelchair services, Parking Permit Program, EPC, Accounting, Children’s and Adult programs when required.
- Provides administrative support to volunteers and students and/or orientation to new staff as required.
- Daily handling of incoming and outgoing mail.

**What You Know**
- Undergraduate degree in a related discipline with 2 - 3 years experience in the area providing intake services.
- Good knowledge of disabilities, medical diagnosis and associated functional limitations is required.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends as required.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Good computer knowledge of Word and Outlook.
- French language skills would be an asset.
- Knowledge of ASL is an asset
- Ability to prioritize workload in an effective manner.
- Ability to work well individually and as a team member.
